Back in action

Hi all,

You probably have wondered: were the hell is Lisette. Lost have happend with the result that on the end of the day I wasn't always into writing at the blog.

First off all: I am doing fine, nothing wrong with my health. But I had some stuff going on at work that had a bigger impact at me then expected. It took a while to get my spirit back and to go with a smile to my work instead of bad feeling. Now everything is more relaxed and I enjoy going to work again (still the same boss :).

Next to that I was in the organization of a really big event of more then 550 people and you can figure out that it took a lot of time to organize everything. Last weekend the event took place and the participants really enjoyed their weekend in Amsterdam. I was responsible for all the logistics and accomodation. Lot of work, learned a lot and had a great time.

Due to this all, I didn't took any vacation and needed my weekends more then ever to have a break. And I know when I got behind my computer I would get stuck to it. So I tryed to get out off the house and enjoyed the few days of sunshine we had in NL. I have the feeling we didn't have had a summer at all this year.

In the mean time I did lot of crocheting and not much crossstitching. I don't know why but at the moment I am more into the crocheting. Made some great stuff toys, hope to be able to sell them sometime at a fair.

I hope that you guys are all right and hope to do more updates in the future.

Still alive

Dear all,

yes i am still alive, but I haven't update my blog recently. Why? Many reasons, but the main reason is being lazy. I think the fact that it has been such beautifull weather the last couple of months in NL, that I enjoyed that more that sitting behind my computer.

The last couple of months I have mainly crochet instead of crossstitching. I don't know why but it just happend. I still need to make have to make an exchange for the HOE snowman exchange. Normally I had already finished it. At the moment I am working on a granny blanket that I can use outside in the garden

At the moment I have vacation and I am now enjoying my new loveseat and hooker in my garden, while in the mean time looking at Hyacinth (female bunny) eating like she haven't had food in months.

Hi,

Sometimes I like to do something different. Just a different way of making beautifull creations. When I was young my grandmother tryed to learn me how to crochet. I can tell you that wasn't a succes. And honestly I am not the person for the table cloth type off crocheting, but I love the small 3d amigurimi. On one of my many visit on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/) I found this little shop called deliciouscrochet (http://www.deliciouscrochet.com/). My room mate at work and I really loved the stuff the designer made, but it never came to downloading a pattern. A couple of weeks ago my room mate bought 3 patterns and printed them out. So on a wednesday evening I thought by myself: let start with this dragon. It took more time then I thought, but after 2 weeks of fanatic crocheting (in the train, waiting at a friend at the theater, late to bed) he is finished. I call him: Zwelgje

Ornament from a Dutch Aussie

I joined the Christmas Exchange last year from HOE. Unfortunatly my ornament got missing in the post. Until today it hasn't arrived. But this sweet Angel Stitcher from across the planet down Under made this really lovely ornament for me. I received it last week, but forget to take it to the office every day to make the picture. Why the take a picture at the office? I am leaving home in the dark and returning home in the dark and my expierence is that the light of a lamp doesn't improve a photo. So finally I took the picture today :)

Dear all,

Because I didn't had much to tell, it has been quite on my side of the world. Yesterday I finally took the time to make a pictures of my last finish. This really cool ball from Just Nan. I find these 3D design fantastisc to make. Doesn't it look cool.

I am know trying something different: crochet. Just look what I made after several attempts:

My sister is into scrapbooking. I am completly not, but sometimes I have an idea an she can make it. She has this cutter that you can use to create stickers or cards. So I asked her can you create the phrase: merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for on my kitchen window. This is the result:

Busy, busy, busy

It has already been a month since my last update, but I have been quite busy with a big event for work. Next week I am responsible for all the logistics, hotel, dinnerparties etc for 55 people 3 days in Berlin. It has been a lot of work, but I loved every minute of it.

In the mean time I managed to finish a fall exchange piece (Send to Sheril from HOE, but forget to take a picture), a heart and a little carpet for a doll house of a friend of my. The last one was a challenge. It was made with wool and it was all stitch over one. The final result looks really nice, but it was a lot of work.

At this moment I am working on my HOE Christmas exchange, almost finished and really love the results.

As I have received an exchange from Sadie, I also made another one for somebody else: Carol. I send her this lovely design from Helga Mandle and made it in a little 'candy' bag. I also included a Pink Ribbon bracelet and some drop. She really liked it. I personally like the text on the desing so much. It gives me a smile everytime I read it.

Yesterday my living room had another edition. My dad and I hung up my new lamp above the diner table. I really love it. To give you an idea how the lamps looks like I added a picture from the company website . It is an Artemide (for the design lovers)

That's all. I am finishing a minicarpet for a doll house for a friend of my. Hopefully it is finished tonight.

Pictures of my casa

It took a while but for the people who are still intrested some pictures of my new home. It is almost finiashed. A couple things still have to be hanged up, but I am waiting for my Pallone chair. When Pallone has arrived I know where the other furniture will stand. Then I will hang my lamp above the dinner table. I am still looking for a new painting but until know I haven't found the correct one. But in the mean time this is how my house looks know.

I also made something for the Halloween Exchange on HOE, but I can't show it you that yet. This small pumpkin I saw on a website and just made it in a few evenings. It turns out nice. I filled it with lavender so it smells nice also.

Escape from the rabbit home

My alarm clock goes every weekday around 6.30 am. It is early but I have to catch the train to Amsterdam around 7.44, so i need the time to wake up get dressed etc. This morning only things went a little bit different.

Since I lived in my new house I have the habbit to first look outside my window if my 2 rabbits are still in their own little place. Because the new lady rabbit likes to break out of her little house. In my old garden the first thing she did is break the door so that she could walk outside. When they just had arrived on the new grass she managed to dig a tunnel through grass, sand and wire mesh. So the next day and extra layer of wire mesh was put on the grass.

This morning I found my two rabbits wandering around in my garden. Thank god they can't escape from my garden, but they tried to dig a tunnel. What happend. In the door of their little house is a wooden panel. Some way or other way they managed to remove the panel so that they could walk outside. Did I tell you this panel was fixed with nails and glue. So how they did it I ams still guessing. After return them into their little house and blocking the newly made exit, I checked the whole place. Hopefully they can't escape any more.

Finally I moved. Last saturday was the big day. 5 big guys helped me out and I was moved in one morning. Because I didn't have internet, tv or telephone until today thanks to the cable company (Ziggo), I had time to kill. So all the boxes are unpacked and I finished this beautifull peace of Faby Reilly designs. It wasn't an easy one, but the results is stunning.

I am really happy how my house turned out. I can finally return to normal life. Back to a more relaxing evenings and enjoy my hobby.

Hi all,
Just a quick update. House is almost finished, will be moving house in about 1 week.
And I will move into this bathroom and bedroom

And my rabbit has since 3 weeks a girlfriend. And they are in love. Little rabbits will not come, because Broer lost his maleness beginning in July.

Her name is Mien. So Mien and Broer will also move next week to a new field of grass.

Getting a new house, also means some changes in furniture. Most of the stuff goes from my old house to my new house. But my big red chair I sold on 'Marktplaats' (dutch e-bay), so I need a new relax chair.

And I really like this one... but it is so expensive. I think i need to start saving :)

3 weeks to go

3 weeks to go and then I will move house! On august 28 will be the big deadline day.

One thing I know for sure: no more Ikea, Praxis, Karwei, Nijhof or other do it yourself companies for the first 6 months. I don't want to buy any screw, plug, doors, lamps etc anymore.

So the construction of the house has kept me quite busy. We are now in the final stage of construction. The last couple weeks we have painted every thing (even the ceiling), the new kitchen is installed, the bathroom is almost finished (need a new sink, the original one didn't fit correctly) and the toilet downstairs is still work in progress. The heating is installed and working. We are almost on the ends of things and it really looks good.

In my old house I am finishing packing boxes and that is a part that I really like. Not the packing part but throwing stuff away (or bring it to charity). I am cleaning my house big times. Do I really need to keep these old shoes, how many socks can a person have. Do I really need to keep these old roadmaps of Provence year 2005. And man: what does that feel good! It feels like I am really moving on and cleaning out the past.

In September I hope to be a little more active then now but I just has been to busy.

Update from the construction site and fire department

What a week....

The temperature are high in the Netherlands at the moment. The summer finally arrived. Honeslty I am more a cooler type of weather girl, but you can't have everything. In the meanwhile the big project is going pretty smooth. Today (no pictures yet), the whole downstairs is done with plasters and according to my dad it looks pretty good. The bathroom is almost finished and the new kitchen has arrived.... in boxes. So if somebody wants to put some IKEA stuff together be my guest.

But what about the fire department. In short: on the night of monday and tuesday I had around 4 fire trucks in front of the house who were trying to put down a fire a cross the street. It was a fire in a shed. But the shed is connected to a big old farm shed, that was full of books. A big fire hazard. So the firemen kept the books wet, so the fire couldn't crossover. That took around 4 hours before they left. I got in total 2 1/2 hours of sleep, because I took my pillow and went to sleep by my partners around the corner. The next day I googled some info what the cause of the fire was... It seems like that my neighbour had his own hemp plantage and that got on fire. Oeps.... big mistake. You can understand that the next evening I got into bed and slept like a baby.

A lot of work is being done for me (and it also cost some money), but the results makes me smiles. I always liked the concept of open doors. That you can walk in the garden or sit in side but it feels like sitting outside. So my dream was to have these doors in my house. In the first attempt of buying a house I also liked the idea of having these doors, but budget wise it was going to hard to realize. But in this house it was possible. So I spend some EURO's and this is the result. I love it. Yesterday I walked around my little garden to give my new plants some water after a day in the sun and looked and the doors and I just smiled.

Besides these beautifulls doors the tiles in the bathroom are almost done, only the floor has to be been done. As you see the kitchen also left the building. We found out that the electricity of the kitchen was little bit of a mess was. So instead of doing it this fall we decided it to do it also know. It was not in te plan, but I know this is the best decision to make.

The walls of the bedroom and hall are now smooth and clean. The final plaster will go on when the living room and kitchen are also smooth and clean.

Between the work I also made a present for my mother (delayed mothersday). She always complains about the fact that I eat diner with them (if I don't do it for some days they also not approve it). So I made this wonderfull pattern Mum's Bed & Breakfast from Crossstitchers Magazine of this spring.

Every evening I am still working on big project. All the walls are now clean of wallpaper and the electricity is new. The work on the bathroom already started and the new tiles are being put on the wall. This weekend the plasterer came and did the bedroom and the hall. Today the new window frame with doors will be placed. Later this week I will post some new pictures.

Tonight I am going to order a new kitchen. Was not in the plan, but me and my parents decide it is better to do it now then later.

A new (big) project

Last friday I started a new project. It is a different kind of project that I am used to do. It is a little bit bigger then normal and I use other tools then my needle and siccors. Oke I will be using siccors but the needle is the coming 3 months out of the question.

My new big project also has a name: my new house. Yes, it finally happend. The bank came through with the money, the papers were signed and the keys were mine.

So last Friday I started to clean the house. I removed the last stuff the old owner (an old lady of 83 years old) left behind and then me and my friends removed everything. The whole interior of the bathroom has been removed. The wallpaper, carpet, heating etc is removed from the house.
To give you an impression of the house, these are some pictures from when I bought it.

Tonight I will make some pictures of how it looks now.
Let the new big project begin

The living room will have a new window with doors so you can walk outside and open it in the summer. All the walls will be white and brown. On the floor will be a wooden floor.

The bathroom will be black tiles on the floor and white tiles on the wall. The the closet with sink on it will be oak and modern design. And I will be having a rain shower. The laundry machine will go in a seperate closet.

The bedroom will be white because I want to be able to change the colors of the room by paintings or bedding.

And the best thing saved for last. I want to give the stairs (apple) green carpet. I think that should look very cool and fresh.

So this is my big project for the coming months. More photo's will follow

HOE Early Christmas Exchange has arrived

Last wednesday I received my Early Christmas Exchange HOE from Faye. She knew I got it, but because I left the next day early on a road trip with my Harley I didn't had time until know to show you the pictures how beautifull this exchange is. Thank you Faye for making it for me.

Road Captain

I have been very busy lately will all kind of stuff. What kind of floor do I want to have in the living room, bed room, kitchen and Bathroom. Which toilet do I like, I didn't knew their are so many different toilets available. Still trying to get a mortgage. Banks are making it difficult for me at the moment. I think they are also waiting what the government will decide on some housing issues and are very carefull lending out money.

In the mean time the motor season has started. And since yesterday I am officially Road Captain! I am now trained to guide groups! I even got an official badge from Harley for it!

Normally I am not really into these badges, but on this one I am pretty proud and is going on my Jacket.

On crossstitching it has been slow, but that is normal for me in the spring/summer. Lots of other things to do and now with the house even more.

So no updates of work, but a picture from my rabbit who is enjoying my backyard.

hectic

It has been a couple of hectic weeks. Since my last post a lot has been going on. I had to arrange a mortgage for my house, my mother turned 60 and the next day my grandmother died.

The end conclusion is that I didn't had any time do do some stitching. Because I also started to clean out my house to make it ready for Queens day and the move to my new house.

Today I helped my mother to do the first cleaning of grandmothers house. Guess what we found and what we keep... very old DMC

But this time it will be no problem (I hope). The price is lower and it fits in all the new rules....

I had a great weekend. Last friday I brought my bike to the dealer. Not only he got his yearly maintenance check but also some cool stuff. I bought a new seat, that has embroiderd flames in it. And I bought lots of chrome for my handlebar. It looks very shining now. Only a new set of mirrors is the plan and then it looks really great. If the temperature starts to get better it will be motor time again soon:).

Saturday we went to a spa in the evening. So we (my BF and I) have smooth soft skin again.
And Sunday I just did nothing :), althought the sun was shining yesterday so I made some pictures from stuff I have finished for the big sale on April 30.

Long time no blog

I haven't written for a while not that I haven't finished anything, but I was just to lazy to make pictures and write a little story about it. Had have made a couple of finishes so I will show those later this. Because this friday I have a day off, my first one in 2 months. I am really looking forward it. Especially because I will ride my Harley again since october. I can't wait to get the blankets off, rub the little bit of dust away and start the engine again. YAHOOO!!!!!! Thank god it has rained enough to have the roads cleared from all the salt that has been put on it.

It is going to be short drive of about 10 km to the shop (thank god because it will be cold on the bike). It needs it yearly maintenance and I got some new things for my "monster" that will be put on. I can't wait how he looks after it. I am feeling like a little girl in the candy shop that can pick her favorite candy.

But back too the stitching, hopefully I can find the time to make some pictures of my work. I got quite a lot for the queens day sale. Hope to put in on the blog this weekend.

I have a couple of passions as you know. My Harley, my crossstitching, my house and garden. For most of the things I can walk by a shop without buying anything. Expect one shop.... Marlies Dekkers. When ever I walk by a lingerie shop or one of her own shops I just have to buy one of her great design.

Yesterday I received an e-mail with the new collection. I will try to be strong and not by anything this time until the sale. I hope I can keep my promise...

Work from the weekend

Some of you will wonder doesn't she has anything else to do in life. Yes I do but not in January and February. Does months I always go in my own kind of winter sleep. For mid March till mid September most of my weekends are full with activities. My Harley club takes a lot of time. And this year it will be a little bit more, because I am going to be a Road Capitain. Pretty cool!!!! Me and my niece are going to organise the Ladies of Harley ride end of April. This means that we going to ride it at least one time in advance. Etcetc. With the result that my weekends in May and June are already fully booked. I am not kinding. June for example: first weekend concert Guus Meeuwis in Heerenveen, weekend second and third visiting my parents in Spain who are on holiday there. Last weekend Harley Elfstedentocht in Leeuwarden (3 days).

Last years I spend my wintersleep watching lot of tv (all the seasons of McCleods Daughters or Buffy the Vampire Slayer), but since I discoverd that crosstitching is not only the big works i am now more spending time on my stitching. I had to make something for the HOE and I wanted to make something usefull and to keep. To get some inspiration I was walking in one of my favorite shops (Xenos) I got this great idea. They have these phototeabox, but instead of a photo I put in some stitching. I turns out pretty great. I took one box to the office and lots of people really liked it. I have made now 2 (see below) and I think I will make some more for Queens day. The box cost 7 EUR in material and about 2 evenings, so I think I am going to sell them for 13,95. I hope people will like them.

New finishing: HUG

Hi all,

I finished 2 pieces. One I can show, the other one is staying a secret because it is for HOE. In december last year the magazine the cross stitcher gave as gift the pattern for HUG from Emily Peacock. I had seen it already a couple of months before and just loved it. But at that time the only version that exist was to work with wool. Now she made special patterns for cross stitch/dmc silk. According to the magazine it should take met 85 hours. It took me around 30 hours. Last friday evening I just had to finish it. I already bought bright blue fabric for the back. In one hour it was a pillow. The next day on my birthday everybody just loved my HUG pillow.

My sisters order by etsy.com the KISS version of this pillow and I can't wait to make that one also. I am not going to keep this pillow but will try to sell it at Queens day. I can always make a new one, because it was a lot of fun to make it.

The other one finish turned out to be great, but just had to wait to my exchange partner has received it.

WIP

On my table next to my sofa i have the project chair of the Cat Whiskers lying. I still have to put it together but I am not happy with the filling at this moment. So I want to change all the panels into fiberfill instead of the lose fiberfill. But I still need to do it. And this already 4 weeks that I need to do this. This is the first time I have a WIP and I don't like it. Hopefully I can find the time and energy this weekend to make it work. But I am afraid not because tomorrow the 23 january is my birthday and I still need to do all the shopping.

In the mean while I am working on HUG of Emily Peacock. It almost finished some last stitches and then I have to make a pillow of it. It is now already fun to do. Bright colors, cool style. Yep I love it.

I stopped

So I stopped... and it feels good.

After 2 weeks of struggles with banks to get mortgage I decided to stop. Due to time pressure and unclear when I was going to get an oke, I decide I had enough. So I stopped and it feels good.
Last weeks I didn't had much time to do some stitching but I managed to finish this Halloween hat by Just Nan.

I also bought the book Sublime stitching from Jenny Hart and I just love it. Stitching but then in a different way.

A struggle

Last week I wrote that I bought a house. I am now in the phase of arranging the mortage. What a nightmare is that starting to be. I have a good job and have a good salary. But my salary is based on salary + bonus + travelcost + health insurance etc. This means that my basesalary is 1/3 less then what I get paid. In the old days (before the crisis) you can took what your earn and get a mortgage based on that (salard + extra's). No you can only get a mortgage based only on your salary. This means that most people can afford a house but that the bank don't want to give the money. I have now to banks who want to give it a try, but they can't promisses if they get premission from the government department who have to say yes.

2 years ago I couldn't get a house because the prices were rocked high, and as single your were not able to get it financial fixed. Now I can't get a house because I can't get a mortgage. I am feeling that the financial world is going in a direction that I can't follow.

My parents say to me: you don't spend your money. You save, save, save. I have a good job. I can buy the things I want. But I always watch my money. I never over pay and love good bargains. I don't buy books or dvd's. I rather go to the libary and borrow a book. I can read much more books for the price of 2 books. Next to that I buy things only when I like it. If I am not 100% sure I don't buy it. If the feeling is good I do it. The same thing happend with my first Harley. A lot of people start with a look a like Harley (Yamaha). My first ever motorbike was a Harley. I save it, I calculated my money and I just bought it. All from my own money. The same thing happend with my second Harley. I had seen it on a photo and thought WOW. After I took it for a spin I bought it. Just like that on a Saturday morning in october. But it felt right and it still does.

1 1/2 month ago I took a look in house that is for sale. The moment I walked in I new this is my house. It felt oke, and felt good. Unfortunatly during the bidding process another party came through and was able to give more money then me. I forget this house and started to look around again for a other house. 1 1/2 week a go I got the call, the buyer don't want to have it any more are you still interested. The results is that I bought a house this afternoon.

I know in a year time I know I did the right thing. At this moment I am scared what time will bring. How much money it will cost.....

But I have a new house!

Let it snow, Let it snow

For the first time in my live I saw a snow-plough with blades in my street. This is because a lot of snow has fallen here. I always have to go to the office by public transportation, but due to the snow they gave the warning not to take the train if not necessary. So I decided to work from home. So I have my laptop and cell with me. Thank god it isn't so busy, but still it feels like skipping school. But when I look at the public transportation website and see a lot of cancelation I am happy that I didn't went by train. But to give you a impression how much snow has fallen here, some pictures.

This is the little house of my rabbit 'Broer'. The picture is from sunday afternoon, but on the night of sunday/monday even fell more snow, so I really had to dig him out this morning to open the door. If you are worried he has it cold, don't worry he has a lot of straw in his little house and he gets extra food. He is also projected against the wind.

End of day and night the forecast is that more snow will fall. My feeling says that we are going to have a white christmas

Not much to tell. It is the last week for the Christmas vacation so it is quite busy at work with all the Christmas cards that has to be send out. Yesterday I just felt like a post office. When I had correct a first stack of cards the next one came in. I am still waiting for the cards of one person (about 150), after that it should be finished. Hopefully I can do some stitching during the holidays. I am working on Spooky from Just Nan. Just finished the cone and starting at the bottom. It is much fun to make.

On the day of celebration of Sinterklaas (5th december) I received my own Sinterklaas present from Nic. She made this lovely ornament that is totally in stitching christmas style. It is the first element of Christmas in my house and standing on the fireplace mantel.

Rain in weekend means lots of crafts time

This weekend was the weekend of Sinterklaas. I didn't celebrate it due to the fact that we only have one child in the family. My nephew celebrate Sinterklaas with the family of my brother in law (more childern). So I didn't have to buy present (= no shopping stress). Because a lot of friends have family obligation I had the whole weekend to do some crafts.

Today I received the messages from Margaret that she received my Christmas ornament that I made for HOE. It was a piece of work that i created while working on it. Adding the beads took some time but the end result was mind blowing.

My camera lens is not working great so I had to use the long distance lens. And this is not really ideal for making pictures. I finished a couple of things, but I can't make pictures of it.

One work I could make a picture by hanging it on the wall and stand on the other end of my living room. It is the When Barnabee mets Bella project. I really loved making this one. I also made some tiny cupcakes and my christmas ornament for Hooked on Exchange. But offcourse I can't reveal how that one looks until my partner has received it.

I haven't mucht to tell. I finished the Just Nan When barnabee meets bella, but unfortunatly haven't been able to make a picture in day light. I can make it in the evening but I just don't like what the flash does with your work. Hopefully this weekend I can take some pictures.

Next year on queens day I want to sell some of my stuff. So I also started to make cupcakes. This is morning in between one evening thing. Last night I finished my third one. It is really cute (picture will follow soon).

Yesterday I did some shopping on line and bought some new projects. Can 't wait to start them.

My first exchange

Since I started this blog a whole new world went open for me. The fact that I am not the only one in the world that is crossstitching and all the great new ideas inspired me to get really more into my hobby. It also works that the days are getting shorter and the Harley season is almost over. For me it is, it is getting to cold to drive around and I don't want to dress up with many layers to keep me warm just to ride my bike. So this weekend I made my Harley ready for the winter. It is now standing inside, clean and with a blanket over him. Knowing myself I probably can't wait in february to get on it when it is still freezing cold.

But yesterday I received my first ever exchange from Lilly from Malaysia. It is a cute basket and I just fell in love with the spider! See here the pictures of the beautiful basket she has made

A jar of ribbons

These weekend I went shopping. I am making this little russian dolls as a key chain and hope to have enough next year to sell it on the free market off Queens day. To make a little profit but also to get some money for my supplies. And off course the best way to get rit of lot of stuff. Because making is one part, but finding a place in your house is a second part. That's why I decided to put stuff on sale on Queens day. My co-worker is making cards so we are going to have a stand the two of us.

So I went supply shopping. Especially ribbons. In a town nearby their is this great little shop full of fourniture stuff. 30 euro cent for one meter (depends on the wide of the ribbon). And see here the result of my shopping.... Total price 25 EUR

These are the first 3 examples of the dolls. I found them on a website and really liked it. I decided I should make a dutch version of it. Still working on finishing the pattern. When finished I will try to make a dutch key chain.

Halloween Hooked on Exchange

This morning I received the note that Verona found my Halloween Hooked on Exchange project in her mailbox yesterday. It is always the guess if somebody likes your work or not. And because it is send by mail you can't see her or his reaction unfortunatly.

The good thing is that I now can post my work on my blog. Let me know if you like it or not.

Hermitage Amsterdam

Last night I went to the new Hermitage in Amsterdam. The Hermitage Amsterdam is a satilitie edition of the big mother in St. Petersburg, Russia. 2 years ago I have been in the St. Peterburg Hermitage and I was blown away. How beautifull the building was, the art collection, the way the family Romanov has lived. One thing for sure, they had money. So much gold and details, just amazing.

So last night I went to the Amsterdam Hermitage. They had an exibition about life at in the Winterpaleis. They had beautifull dress on display with embroidery that was mind blowing. We were with a group and all the girls wanted to have dresses like that.

The exhibition is until January 30 2010. So if you are in Amsterdam go see the Hermitage. You have a great time.

Money, Money, Money

Due to the fact that I started this blog a whole new world of internet sites openend for me. So I am spending money. In my own local shop they didn't had that much colors of fabrics available. But for one particulary project I was looking for 2 colors fabric. And I found it, and offcourse I bought two additional colors because they look so beautiful.

Beside that I bought a sewmachine. I was already longer on my want to have list, but finaly bought one. Know I can create much more things... LOL. And off course the fabric can be handy then (good excuses).

Tomorrow is breastcancer month. I have made this special biscornu for a collegae as a present. I hope she will like it.

And honeslty I don't want to give it away. It is so beautiful....

I also finished by HoE Halloween assignment last weekend, but the mailing date is October 2 so I can't show you yet how it turned out. For a first timer it looks pretty great.

As promised I was going to give you some pictures of my holiday work.

I have finished 2 new biscornu's. A 15 sides and an 8 sides. The 15 sides didn't turned out that great due to the fact that I made a miss calculation regarding the amount of same colors. So it is a mixed biscornu that is not turned really great. But I am going to make it a new one.

Today I also hanged up the welcome Halloween doorhanger.

Back from vacation

I haven't written for 2 weeks because I was on holiday in France. Me and my guy went to Normandy. My guy really is crazy about everything about the second world war. He didn't want to go to France but when I show him a picture of the house we could rent and what we could go resulted in a yes from him.

Living in the Netherlands/Europe you grow up with the second world war. You hear the stories from your grandpartners or even parents. But also in school. And offcourse every year around 4/5 May we remember our deaths and celebrate our freedom.

Offcourse I learned about d-day and the big amount of soldiers who lost their lives, and that it was the beginning of a free Europe. What I never knew is how long it took to organize it and also what was organised. Due to visting musea, reading a travelguide that was specialized in the subject and also just being on the beaches of Ohama, Utah and Juno/Gold you realize what took place on June 6 1944. Especially when you are walking on the American but also the German graveyards.

Besides these visit we also went to Saint Mont Michel and spend some time in the sun on the beach. And in the evening I did my crossstitching. I made some biscornu's but still have to fill it and finish it off. And to give you an idea that the beach that was behind our dune were our house was standing.

Sick at home

Today didn't start that well. Sunday afternoon a headache came to join me in my head and instead of calming down after taking some ibuprofen it got worse. With the result I saw the clock turning to 1 am, 2 am, 3 am and what I can remember the last time is 3.30 am. When the alarm went of this morning it wasn't better so I decide not to go to work. Back to back, 4 hours of sleep and feeling a lot better! Still not great but tomorrow I will be back at work.

For the rest the weekend was quite relaxed. Didn't do much except some household work and bought some stuff for my crossstitching. I finished my secret project and it turned out great. Because the project is still a secret until October I will put a picture of a beautifull Dahlia on-line.

I also joined the hooked on crossstitching SAL. It should be fun to make something for a fellow cross stitcher.

Plans for the weekend

For the first time in weeks I don't have appointments this weekend. Oke I have one appointment, tomorrow I am going to take a look at a house that is for sale. It is nearby were I live now and due to the Credit Crisis it is possible for me to buy a house instead of an appartment.

Besides that I don't have any appointments. What normally results in having a very hectic busy weekend. Because then I think: Ohh I can do this, and do that. So I will go to the handcraft shop to buy the fabric I was planning to buy for a long time. I still have to mown the grass with the grass mower. If that is not all I still need to give the sprockets of my harley a good clean.
I really hate doing that because I have to lay on the ground to get by the part that is behind met saddle bags. But the sprockets must shine and not like my at the moment. Maybe I make a picture of my hands after it cleaned them, then you see yourself how dirty my hands will be. And also still have to put some stuff that I bought for my harley on my bike....

So for next weekend... I will make appointments

Another one off the to do list

As you see I start this post in English. After cruising over the internet looking for crossstitching blogs I discovered one thing: it is more international orientated than national. What I noticed is that USA and UK have a lot of fanatic stitchers. I get so much inspiration from them.

If I want people to visit my blog and understand what I am writing about I should join the international language English. So from now on I write in English.

Last night I finished my project Halloween Fun. Oke the stitching is finished but the background I still have to be attach to it. I still have to go to the shop to get it, hopefully this saturday and then I can complelty finish it. I was suprised how quick this one went. Maybe because I got more speed in the stitching .

I am still working on the Geisha, but it is a very complex one and not always very stimulating. I decide it is going to be my 2 years project.....

Tonight I start on my secret project. Why secret because it is for somebody who knows I have this blog and maybe takes a look at it and discover it is for her. If you take a look at the picture on the right you get a hint what it is about...

De laatste 2 avonden lekker los kunnen gaan op halloween fun. Ik heb lekker de gang erin. Vervelende is alleen dat ik soms de tijd vergeet en de volgende ochtend toch weer vroeg op moet. Dit weekend waarschijnlijk weinig tijd om wat te doen. Morgen naar Ommen op de motor en zondag naar Harley dag Breda. Dan gaat het borduurwerkje even de kast in en komt de biker uit de kast. Hoe bedoel je diverse persoonlijkheden....

Bij deze de stand van zaken... schiet al lekker op!

De oude doos

Het nadeel van borduren is dat de snelheid van het afkrijgen van je werkstuk op een iets lager tempo ligt dan bijvoorbeeld iemand die scrapt. Maakt een andere 3 kaarten op een avond ben ik met sommige werkstukken maar 4 bij 4 cm verder.

Maar omdat ik toch ergens mee bezig ben zal ik mijn voorderingen af en toe fotograferen en werkstukken uit de oude doos op de blog zetten. Mits de kaartlezer voor mijn geheugenkaartje het wel doet.

Biscornu wat?

Afgelopen voorjaar was ik op vakantie in Schotland. Natuurlijk kon ik het niet laten om een paar fantastische borduurtijdschriften te kopen. Persoonlijk vind ik die tijdschriften vernieuwend en absoluut niet stoffig zoals de Nederlandse versie.

Aldaar kwam ik het fenomeen Biscornu tegen. Een kleine achthoekig kussentje dat je maakt door middel van 2 vierkanten lapjes. Aangezien ik mijn grote werkstuk effe zat was en het rustig is op kantoor heb ik nu al 2 biscornu's gemaakt.

Ik ben zelf zeer te spreken over het resultaat en er zullen nog vele volgen....
